This program is suggested for those that have learned basic synchronized swimming skills. In this stream the athletes are grouped according to ages. The age groups for this stream are: 10 and under, 12 and under, 13-15, and 16-18. Athletes will participate on teams, duets, trio’s, solo’s or a combination of above at the coaches discretion. The training hours depend on the age group and amount of routines, and ranges from approx. 5-22 hours a week. The skills learned in this stream will be focused on further developing the skills from the recreational program and learning as many synchro specific skills as possible, including flexibility, strength, and speed development. Swimmers are encouraged to participate in gymnastics and dance outside of synchro practices.

Competitions

At this level there are 1-2 training meets and 2-3 Routine Competitions.

Occasionally there is an opportunity for an optional meet as well.

Swimmers are invited to this level as their skills progress and mature. This program is for those swimmers who want to compete at a National level and want to specialize in the sport of synchronized swimming.

Our National Stream Athletes will compete according to their age. The categories are 12 and under, 13-15 years, 16-18/Junior and Senior. Swimmers are placed on teams according to their age and skill level. These athletes will be selected to swim on teams, solos, duets or a combination of these routines.

National Stream athletes participate in Training Meets, as well as Provincials and Westerns. If they qualify, athletes will then attend the National Synchronized Swimming Championships for their age group. At National competitions, athletes have an opportunity to try out for National Teams.

National Stream athletes have chosen to specialize in synchro, therefore the number of training hours are greater than for the Provincial Stream program.

Training Schedule

Pool training - at least five days per week. Averages fifteen or more hours per week.

Land drill, stretching, and strength training - 2 or more times a week.

At home, elite swimmers should spend a 1/2 hour a day stretching and doing land drill for routines.
